  • "I saw him lift and poise the book and stand in act to hurl it...it hit me, and I fell, striking my head against the door cutting it" (pg. 9).
  • In this scene Jane Eyre was reading one of John Reed's books. He is angry and decides to hit her with the book to teach her a lesson.
  • In this scene Jane Eyre is mad because Mrs. Reed told Mr. Brocklehurst that she is deceitful.
  • "I'm not your dear, I cannot lie down; send me to school soon, Mrs. Reed, for I hate to live here" (pg.50).
  • Mr. Brocklehurst tells the school that Miss. Jane Eyre is a liar who needs to be watched and he was told this by Mrs. Reed.
  • " Juggernaut- this girl is--a liar!" (pg. 94).
