  • Our class is going on a field trip to Mali!
  • Mali is located in Western Africa. Mali is located on the Niger River. Since it is near the Sahara Desert, Mali's climate is very dry. 
  • Why is it so dry here?
  • The hierarchy in Mali consists of kings at the top, then priests, griots, villagers, and slaves. In Mali, the natives speak traditional African, and are Islamic.
  • The people of ancient Mali, were traders, farmers, and miners. Mali's government is a monarchy.
  • The economy of Mali is solely based on their surplus of gold and salt
  • The people of the ancient Mali empire were Muslims, following the Islamic faith.
