  • Johnny was very close to Ponyboy but also influenced Ponyboy's journey. He always wanted the best for Ponyboy. They were like brothers the two were always together and did everything together. What also influenced Ponyboy was before Johnny's death, for example, a quote from the book that johnny had said was "stay gold Ponyboy" showing that he wanted ponyboy to not give up.
  •  The experience of the church Influenced Ponyboy's journey. in some ways, Ponyboy and Johnny became heroes for saving the children from the burning building. Unfortunately, Johnny died due to the incident. He learns that nothing last forever.
  • One conflict that occurred that influenced Ponyboy was Bob's death. He felt some sort of guilt for being there and not saying that he was the reason for Bob's death. If  Bob and his friend had never tried to drown Ponyboy Johnny would not have killed him. His death mainly caused conflict for Ponyboy for him not knowing how to handle the situation. For example, after Johnny's death, ponyboy left telling himself he was not dead and roamed the streets.
