Kent.V 1966,Issue: Juveniles and Serious Crime. Morris Kent age 16. Has done 3 home burglaries three robberies, and two counts of rape. He was moved to adult court even though he was only 16. He was sentenced to 30 to 90 years in prison.
The Supreme Court said that a minor can be trialed as a adult rather than juvenile court depending on the seriousness of the crime age criminal background and mental state.
A juvenile can be tried as and Adult under certain situation such as murder, sexual assault or possession or sale of drugs. All the way up to life in prison. But can not face the death penalty saying it violates the 8th amendment.
