The narrator lives with an old man who has an evil eye. The eye was blue and cloudy , like a vulture eye. The narrator is nice to the man, and even said he loved him. He keeps insisting he is not crazy, but secretly plots his death because he was terrified of his eye.
For eight nights the narrator stalks the old man and watches him sleep, waiting for the perfect time to attack. He waits for the perfect time because wants to be able to see the eye before killing him.
On the eighth night the narrator decides the time is right to kill him. After startling the man awake the narrator decides to drag him to the floor and pull the bed over on top of him and kill him.
,Once the old man was dead and the eye would no longer bother the narrator, he worked all night to cut up the old mans body and bury it under the floor of his room.
As soon as the narrator finished placing the body under the floor, police officers came to the door to ask about a scream the neighbors heard. The narrator invited them in and explained the man was on a trip and showed them around the house.
As the narrator and the police men talked, the narrator started to feel uneasy. He then began pacing back and forth because he thought he could still hear the mans heart beating underneath them and finally confessed to the murder and told the police the man was under the floor.
