Chuck was speeding so that he could get to the wedding faster because he was late, and he ended up getting pulled over by a cop. Now he has to pay a fine of $500 due to traffic laws.
Chuck finally arrives at the wedding and realizes that in order to become married to Grace he will need to obtain a marriage license. Afterwards, he'll need to obtain a marriage certificate to prove that he is married.
Chuck then decides to check out some houses that he 's interested in and, out of all of them, consider which one would be the best for his future family's needs. He realizes that houses also have a sales tax that marks up the price. Sales tax goes to the government to provide money for many important services.
Chuck eventually agrees with his wife to adopt a baby. Adoption is a three month process where a person becomes a parent of a biologically different child and, in doing so, transfers all rights from the biological parents to the new parents. This means a state court is involved.
Chuck also finds out that when a baby is adopted, an amended birth certificate is issued that replaces the birth parent's name with the adoptive parents and also allows the adoptive parents to change the name of the child.
Finally, after 4 months of living in an apartment, Chuck and his wife decide to purchase this house. Since the purchase of a house is probably the biggest and most expensive purchase they'll make in their life, he decided to hire a real estate agent before making the final decision to obtain this house.
