  • In Harlem, New York, Mrs. Jones is walking down the street. As she is walking, a young man comes up behind her and tries to steal her purse.
  • Climax
  • Roger, the young man, tries to steal Mrs. Jones' purse so he can buy a pair of blue suede shoes. He doesn't have any money, or parents so he felt that stealing was the only way.
  • Falling Action
  • Mrs. Jones tells the boy to pick up her pocketbook that had fallen out of her purse. She grabs his arm and drags him down the street back to her house.
  • Resolution
  • Mrs. Jones brings Roger inside her house to the kitchen. She tells him to wash his face, and then starts to tell him how stealing is the wrong thing to do.
  • Mrs. Jones asks Roger why he tried to steal her purse. He tells her that he has no parents and he wanted a pair of blue suede shoes. She then cooks dinner for the both of them.
  • Mrs. Jones gives Roger the money to buy the shoes he wanted. She makes sure he has eaten, and makes sure that he has learned his lesson about stealing.
