Larry Holmes is an american former professional boxer who competed from 1973 to 2002. He grew up in Easton Pennsylvania, which gave birth to his boxing nickname of the "Easton Assassin". He was born on November 3, 1949. His spouse was Diane Holmes.
In the mid-seventies , he was a partner for both competing heavyweight champions, against Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Over the span of five years he won 28 consecutive bouts. In 1978 he won the World Boxing Council heavyweight crown. In 1983, amid ongoing disagreements with boxing promoter Don King, Holmes relinquished his WBC title.
He defended his title twenty times, more than any heavyweight champion exception of Joe Louis. His moves stiff left jab, powerful overhand right, and expert ring generalship. Under the guidance of former prizefighter Earnee Butler, the 6-foot-3-inch Holmes embarked on an amateur career in 1970
