Storyboard Text

  • Japanese colonization and imperialism
  • I am the leader of Japan and I have decided to take over land in other countries, such as China.  This is to expand our power.
  • Embargo on Japan's Oil
  • Did you hear about the Embargo on Japan's oil.  The U.S. put a ban on oil exports to that country.
  • Japan Surprise Attack on Pearl Attack
  • Above shows a picture of the ruler of Japan explaining that he going to expand Japans power.  Which is exactly what imperialism is.
  • U.S. Receives Warnings About Attack
  • According to this warning Japan might attack.  I don't believe it though.
  • Above is a picture of two civilians discussing the embargo on oil exports from the U.S. to Japan.  Gasoline exports were also cut off.  This was because the U.S. was upset at Japan.
  • This Date Will Live In Infamy
  • "This date will live in infamy."
  • Above is an image of Japan planes dropping bombs on Pearl Harbor during the attack.
  • Japanese U.S. Citizens Are Treated Badly
  • My mom says I can't play with you because you are from Japan.
  • Above shows a picture of two men talking about the recent warning the U.S. has received about a possible attack from Japan.  Most of the warning were not taken seriously though because people thought Japan already had their army spread out into other areas and that Japan would not have enough people to attack.
  • Above is FDR saying that the day of the Pearl Harbor attack will live in infamy.  This is because the day will always be known as the day Japan attacked the U.S.
  • Above shows a picture of two children.  One child is telling the other child she can't play with her because the girl is Japanese.  This is supposed to be an example of how innocent Japanese U.S. citizens were treated badly after the Pearl Harbor Attack.  People were rude to them and this is just one example.
