long ago, in Midas' kingdom
Midas was the king of the Brigians. His mother was a goddess so he was thought to be somewhat divine.
Midas truly loved two things. He loved wine very much. He also loved the pursuit of wealth.
Dionysus please help me! Take back this curse!!
As a reward for doing a favour for Dionysus, Midas hastily chose the ability to turn things to gold.
He turned a lot of his kingdom to gold. He soon began to starve because all of his food turned to gold!
He pleaded with Dionysus to take away his gift. Finally, he was told how to solve his problem.
Midas bathed in the river to remove the gift. As he came out of the water he saw the glitter of gold dust. He knew the gift was gone!
