Storyboard Text

  • We are the black regiments who fought in the Civil War for the Union.
  • These chains bind me to work and pain, but to be free in need to earn it. I am going to sign up for the army.
  • The war started in April 12,1861 and ended May 13,1865.
  • I'd rather die than not be free. To gain my freedom I'm going to fight for my rights, and for my fellow friends that want their freedom back.
  • The war is then won by the Union and all slaves are free now.
  • I have been awarded the Medal of Honor for my effort and fighting for my country.
  • By the end of the war 16 African Americans were awarded the Medal of Honor
  • I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
  • Helps us understand that these people didn't have to fight for their rights, but they were brave enough to stand up for their rights.
  • Because of the Southern citizens think about us African Americans I was mostly used for labor around the camp instead of fighting for freedom.
