Juliet awaits the Nurse's return. The Nurse said she was going to return in 30 minutes, yet is now 3 hours late! Juliet laments over Nurse's old age and if she had been young and passionate, she may have returned in the time she promised.
Why, she is within.Where should she be?
Nurse arrives, yet looks sad and tired, even as Juliet asks her about her delay. Nurse tells Juliet to leave her be as she is tired and her bones 'ache.'
Friar Lawrence’s cell. There stays a husband to make you a wife.
The nurse then says that Juliet is bad at choosing men, and continues to complain of her injuries. Juliet gets upset over Nurse's stalling, as she refuses to tell her about Romeo and their marriage.
Honest Nurse, farewell!
Nurse keeps going on tangents and asking off topic questions, such as whether or not she has had lunch. She then talks angrily and calls Juliet ridiculous, before asking whether Juliet is allowed to go to confession that day.
Juliet answers 'yes.' Nurse states that her husband awaits her in Friar Lawrence's cell, and that she will go to lunch and leave a rope ladder for Romeo when night falls.
Juliet blushes and asks for the nurse to wish her luck and to say thank you to her Nurse. (Exit stage)
