Hi my name is Holden. Behind me is another school I just got kicked out of. I'm not sure what to do next but I don't want to stay here and I definitely don't want to go home. I'm going to get a hotel in just hide out there for a while. I don't handle my feelings well so I get depressed and think about my siblings because that seems to cheer me up. But thinking about my siblings makes me miss them and I get even more sad.
Depression and Sadness in "The Catcher In The Rye"
scene 1: after sunny left the hotel room
scene 2: in the lavender room with the three girls
Holden is sad during most of the book and doesn't know how to express his feelings in a good way.
He called for a girl to come to his room but did nothing with her and he felt dirty so he asked her to leave and felt miserable after she left. He doesn't like what he's become. Later Maurice the pimp come to the room to get the rest of the money and punches Holden in the stomach. He feels like dying after this
He wants the girls to pay attention to him but they are just looking around for famous people. They also don't take him seriously because he is young. He just wants their attention to to have a good conversation with someone.
