  • Hi, I am MIRO! I am here to explain about Aboriginal farming. 
  • Aboriginal people practised fire stick agriculture. 
  • Patches of land were burned and cleared for farming. 
  • It was a sustainable farming practice. 
  • Captain Arthur Phillip and the First Fleet-1788 
  • Established Botany Bay in 1788
  • The aboriginal people resisted setting up of a colony. Therefore, had to leave Botany Bay.
  • Sydney Cove was small bay. It was a fertile land on Parramatta river.
  • Labour from 2nd and 3rd fleets was used to farm and expand the new settlement. British crown created"Australian Agriculture Company", in Port Stephens.
  • Rose Hill settlement was established with new agricultural techniques.
  • Favourable living style, government laws, better profits encouraged more and more people to take up agriculture.
  • People from started to settle and occupy large areas of land. These people were known as "Squatters". 
  • It was these settlers who expanded farming in Australia, rain pattern and vegetation further helped in expansion of agriculture.
