The Crusaders begin traveling through Hungary and Bulgaria. They had no idea how long their journey was going to be to reach Jerusalem.
Most of the pilgrims believed that God would help them on their journey by sending down manna from heaven.
However, the people of Hungary and Bulgaria didn't understand their language and weren't very nice to them. They wouldn't give the Crusaders food or shelter.
Then some brave Crusaders decided to steal food and flocks from the citizens.
They even destroyed villages and killed many people. But the Bulgarians fought back and overpowered the Crusaders.
Hundreds of Crusaders died and many women and children were captured and sold as slaves.
