- Coach makes Ghost return the shoes to the store. Ghost feels really bad for stealing the shoes and ruined them. Ghost is not able to afford new shoes because he doesn't have money. Coach decides that he wants to buy the shoes for Ghost because he know that he cannot afford them.
- One of the symbols in this book are sunflower seeds. I think that this is an important symbol because Ghost loves to eat sunflower seeds. He would always eat sunflower seeds with his dad on his porch. Everyday Ghost goes to the gas station and buys sunflower seeds.
- At the end of the book Ghost is in the championship meet of the season. His mom is at the game and is seeing him run for the first time. There is tons of people there to watch there kids. The book ends with the gunshot signifying the beginning of the race.
