When Frederick Douglass was little he experienced a lot of violence and negativity. Douglass lived in Maryland. When he was little his master sold his mom to another slave master.
Black people were brought from Africa to the United states by the Caucasians. Some of them couldn't fight back because they didn't have the weapons that the overseers did, but some of them did and got away.
When slaves were brought to the the U.S. they were forced to work on the cotton fields all day and night. And on top of that they were not given enough food to eat. The men and women slaves received their monthly allowance of food, eight pounds of pork, or fish, and bushel of corn meal.
Kids worked on the field all day long and their yearly clothing consisted of two coarse linen shirts, one jacket, one pair of linen trousers for winter, made of coarse negro cloth, a pair of stockings, and one pair of shoes, the whole of which could.
Not have cost more then seven dollars. And when these failed them, they went naked until the next allowance day. Their master gives them food, but not a lot to last for a week. And it's not even healthy for them to eat. But they do not have any choice but to eat the food their given.
There were no beds given to the slaves, they had to sleep on the floor and, on top of that they were not given any blankets. Whenever they get cold they cuddle up together to get warm.
