  • The large states included Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

  • The small states included Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and even New York.
  • what was the exact compromise?
  • the exact compromise was an agreement that large and small states reached during the Constitutional Convention of 1787 that in part defined the legislative structure and representation that each state would have under the United States Constitution.

  • The Great Compromise split the difference, apportioning the House of Representatives by population and giving each state equal representation in the Senate. The compromise satisfied the big and the small states.
