Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • This is the family on their way to their new home while Luis & Papa are arguing. This doesn't show the Grandma and other kids, besides Junior witnessing the argument.
  • You think you're too good for us just because you finished high school and have a job in town!
  • Inciting Incident
  • Rising Action
  • The movie is gonna start soon, we should sit down.
  • Uncle Luis argues with Papa and about moving to a different area of New Mexico. Papa tries to convince Uncle Luis by saying that he is closer to work and Grandma adds in that Papa is grown and can make his decision. Meanwhile, Junior is anxious about moving to a new place where he knew no one yet.
  • Climax
  • It's Junior's first day of 1st grade. At recess a guy named Chango walked by Junior, aiming to trip him, but Junior stepped on his foot. Then Chango approached Junior, trying to play fight him, but Junior knew how to defend himself. He tripped Chango, making him land on his back. Chango's friends were surprised at Junior's strength. Chango offered him to be part of their group (the Los Indios).
  • Falling Action
  • I understand there's a nice movie in town where the boys go Saturday afternoons...
  • It would be nice for the boys to go together.
  • During this time, there were some fights between the Los Indios and others, but Junior and his friends stuck together. Zorro movies drew mixed reviews & were the subject of argument for a while. Junior and his friends watched movies together and enjoyed acting it out later and talking about the characters. Then one day, Denver moves in next door to Junior.
  • Resolution
  • Denver is new to the city and he is Junior's neighbor. Junior and his gang see Denver as their enemy, so they track him down. When they got Denver and Chango asked him if he spoke Spanish and he didn't reply back, Denver received a couple punches from Chango. When Denver got the chance, he escaped but they didn't bother to chase after him.
  • Junior and his friends catch Denver, the new kid.
  • Junior and Denver's parents decide the boys should go to the movies together and get to know each other. Junior is not happy with this because he and his friends see Denver as their enemy and Junior tells Denver he hates Okies (Oklahomans). But he didn't have a choice, his mom had made the decision and he couldn't go against it.
  • Denver goes to the movies with Junior. When they arrive, Junior lies to his friends that Denver is an albino/blond Indian so that Denver could fit in. The Los Indios went with what Junior said and accepted Denver into their group. After they watched the cartoons, Junior tells Denver to say the Spanish chant he had taught him since Denver didn't know Spanish. They had a great time.
  • Let's get ready for the cartoons!
