  • The main character explains how he's "Sane" by telling of him living with the old man, who has a "vultures eye". This greatly upsets the man character, as he wants this evil eye to be gone.

  • The main character decides to be friendly to the old man as he plots his murder, to arouse no suspicion from the old man and his "Evil eye"
  • resolution
  • I did it! I killed him, make it stop!
  • When the main character decides to finally kill the old man by smothering him, he succeeds in doing so, hiding the body under the floorboards
  • When police arrive, the main character lets them in, knowing they won't find the old man's corpse. The police believe his story about the man being away, until that sound begins to surface
  • When the main character hears the old man's heartbeat inches head, he admits to his murder, ripping up the floor to show the corpse. While this happens the main character is crying for the police to make the sound stop, as it is driving him mad.
