  • Taiping Rebellion (1864) 
  • China was not interested in any of the goods of other countries, until Britain started to trade them opium for things like tea, silk, and porcelain    
  • Spheres of Influence (1890) 
  • The Opium war started because China was trying to stop Britain from trading Opium illegally
  • Boxer Rebellion (1900) 
  • The Taiping Rebellion was also know as the Taiping War because it was a Civil war in China between the Manchu-led Qing  and the Taiping  Heavenly Kingdom under Hong Xiuquan 
  • Was an anti-colonial, anti-foreign, and anti-Christian uprising in China
