Trait 5:National Society
After defeating the iniquitous monster Grendel, Beowulf has gained even more acknowledgment from the people. He is seen as a strong, courageous, and admired hero.
With all the confidence in the world, Beowulf has been brought up through the trouble out of this epic. Once he goes face to face with Grendel’s mother he is suddenly ground-bounded by her. She drags out some force where Beowulf actually has difficulty competing with for a moment.
Trait 6: Humility
A hero commits his deeds because he knows they need doing, and the fame and rewards that he receives are only a matter of course, not the reason for finishing the quest.
