I wonder what would happen if I cross these two flowers? How will their offspring turn out?
My two homozygous (pure breed) plants have seemed to produce 4 short and purple flowering plants. I must do more research.
Oh my! It seems that the yellow flower's traits have reappeared in the F2 bunch. It must be magic.
My data shows that in the F1 group the dominant traits were purple flowers and short stems.
Through further research, I can now conclude that it was not magic that caused the yellow flower traits to reappear. It turns out that the alleles in the parent plants had the genotypes for either result, but the plants phenotype only showed the purple traits.
The homozygous parent plants produced heterozygous offspring that then produced 75% purple and 25% yellow. In conclusion I found out that the yellow flower's traits were just recessive and got covered up by the purple.
