The monster thinks he can be friends with De Lacey because he is blind, but when he approaches De Lacey, Felix comes home early and beats up the monster. "Felix darted forward...tore me from his father... and struck me with a stick," (Shelley 145)
The monster runs away from Felix, even though he is fully capable of murdering Felix right on the spot. Then the monster goes back to his hovel and declares war against the "species" (humans).
The creature sees a little girl fall in the river, so he saves her from the dangerous river. Another human sees him saving her and thinks he is hurting her, so the human shoots the monster.
After the second time of being betrayed by humans, the monster is really angry now. He sets off to find his creator in Geneva after two months of finally healing from his wound.
On his way to Geneva, the monster finds a little boy, and thinks that the boy will be his friend because he is too young to understand. Instead the little boy screams and says, " 'Hideous monster, let me go, my papa is... M. Frankenstein!' " (Shelley 153). This makes the monster mad and he strangles the boy.
The monster takes a locket off the boy and plants it on a nearby girl in a a barn. This girl happens to be Justine and this explains how she was falsely accused.
