Hello! I am Malala. This is my family. We live in Swat Valley, Pakistan. On the right is my mother, the rock of our family. Next to her is my father, Ziauddin Yousafzai. He believes in me, no matter what. Next to me are my brothers, Khushal and Atal. They love to pick fights and annoy me to death!
Here I am doing an interview speaking out against the Taliban. They are a terrorist group in Pakistan speaking out against practices they think are haram, or prohibited in Islam. Everyday things like girls going to school or women going to the market alone are now being prohibited by the Taliban.
On October 9, 2012, I am targeted by the Taliban and shot on my way home from school. At this moment, everything went black. I am rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. Complications arise and it is necessary for me to be flown in a private jet to England for more medical treatment.
Finally, after a week of being alone in a foreign country, getting many surgeries and procedures, my family is able to come join me in Birmingham, England. After my treatment is complete, we settle in to our new life in England. Here I am with my friends at my new school in Birmingham.
On December 10, 2014, I am awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for my fight against extremism and for children's education. I, Malala Yousafzai, am the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in history. Shortly after, I decide the start to Malala Fund for children's education all around the world.
