  • I told you that you should have listened to Parliament.
  • James believed in Divine Right of KIngs (believed that he did not have to work with Parliament). This began issues of tension between monarchy and parliament.  This also created issues in religion, power, and money.
  • This is the Civil War between the Cavaliers and the Roundheads. The Civil War started in 1642 and was between supporters of the king (The Cavaliers) and the supporters of Parliament (The Roundheads). 
  • King Charles was the first monarch to lose head in public. After he was beheaded a commonwealth (republic) was set up. And a man named Cromwell then took over and set up a military dictatorship. Cromwell ruled until death in 1658 and the army
