- In 1957 the Soviet Union launched the worlds first satellite, Sputnik. They used it during war times to send messages back and forth without being caught by the enemy.
- The WWW is Created

- After the launch of the Sputnik, USA launched their own satellite which lead to Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf to invent the internet in the 1970's. They called it the IP-Internet Protocol.
- The First Signs of Social Media
- Emails were the first form of technological communication. They allowed people to send a message from one computer to another. They were invented in the early 1970's by numerous inventors.
- Social Media Now
- Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist, created the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989. The WWW was originally supposed to be a way for Universities, Institutes and scientists to share information with each other.
- In 1997, the first social media site was born-SixDegrees.com. There were other sites between the years of 2000 and 2004, like friendster, myspace and facemash. Facebook was created in 2004.
- Social Media hasn't changed that much except for the safety of using it . Now when you post on you can choose it to be private or public. Social Media also hasn't introduced any new viral apps or sites since TikTok, which was made in 2016
