A Rising Action is a scene that builds toward the point of greatest interest. This scenes shows the boy waiting for the man to open his eye. "I opened it just enough for a single ray of light to fall upon the vulture eye".
A Climax is when the story outcome is clear. This scene shows the boy suffocating the man with the bed. "I dragged him to the floor and pulled the heavy bed over him".
A Falling Action is after the climax and when the conflict has been resolved. This scene shows the boy getting rid of the evidence by chopping up the old mans body. " First I cut off the head and the arms and the legs".
