Storyboard Text

  • Main Characters
  • Setting
  • Conflict
  • Parvana and her parents are the main characters in the book. (Ellis 1) Parvana and her mom are fighting for her dad to return in the book. (Ellis 71)
  • Theme
  • This book took place in the country of Afghanistan. (Ellis 13) In this time, the talabon are trying to take over Afghanistan. They are ruining family's lives. (Ellis 83)
  • Social issue
  • The conflict is between Parvana's family and the Talabon. This is man vs. man conflict because Paravana and her family are against the talabon because they took away her father. (Ellis 63)
  • Symbol
  • The theme is to never give up. Parvana never gives up to get her dad out of prison. (Ellis 72) Her feet have blisters and are bleeding from the Talabon hitting her. They were tired and sad, but they never gave up. (Ellis 83)
  • The Talabon do not like it when women were educated. They thought that they should just stay home and clean. They didn't allow women to write, publish, or teach any sort of writing. They were not allowed to educate. If they got caught, they would get in big trouble. (Ellis 15)
  • The object for the book is a water well. I chose this because Parvana has to go get the water every day for her and her family. Her older sister is too old and her younger sister is too young to get it. (Ellis 26)
