AJ- The Seventh President
Andrew Jackson was born in a log cabin with his family. When he was 9, He was able to tell his town of the Declaration of Independence that would free them. At 13, He joined the Revolutionary war.
Many people liked AJ. He was a good soldier and his own man. He was strong and courageous. A lot of the people in the nation liked him so much, they thought he should lead them.
Old Hickory to Lead!
Other people like John Q. Adams wanted to lead too. He was scared that everyone liked Jackson too much, so he started to say terrible things about Jackson and his wife Rachel. The mudslinging took over the entire election.
Rachel is awful!
Jackson Won the election. But shortly after, His wife passed away. AJ was very sad at her death, and he would not forgive anyone who said bad things about her. He still had to deal with gossip and mudslinging.
AJ hired all of his friends to help him lead using the spoils system. His friend John Eaton and Peggy Eaton wanted to help him, but many people were talking badly about AJ’s friends and AJ could not get any work done. No one ever talked about how to help the country, they only wanted to be mean to His friend Peggy Eaton. With a sad heart, AJ had to send Peggy and his other friends away so everyone could focus on the country.
Now that everyone was ready to help, AJ decided to make some money. In order to help country businesses, AJ wanted people to buy from them. But, citizens kept buying goods from elsewhere. AJ decided to make those products more expensive through the Tariff of Abominations. He put a fee on certain goods.
