  • Hi! I'm Reace Thresher from Period 2. And this is my Andrew Jackson Project.
  • Hi! I'm Reace Thresher from period 2. And this is why I think Andrew Jackson SHOULDN'T be on the 20 dollar bill.
  • Jacksonian Democracy was when Jackson gave voting rights to white townsmen. By doing this, he won the election of 1828 like he had wanted. But, I do not believe this was good for the country. Yes, he gave whiteMEN rights to vote. But, for all the wrong reasons. Not only that but, he just gave white men rights to vote. Not people of color OR women. In my opinion, that's not much different than having only white rich men vote...
  • Jackson got away with stuff too easily with this.
  • The Spoils System: The act of replacing government officials with the new president's political backers. Also known as his supporters. This was bad for the country. This act was biased against those with different political views.
  • Hehehe...
  • The Indian Policy was the act of moving Native Americans, against their will, to the Western territories if they did not adopt white culture. This was bad because our country was formed to appreciate the diversity that it had. This policy was doing the opposite of that.
  • States Rights was an argument from the start. But, the Tariff of Abominations angered the southerners to then vote for Jackson. The tariff shifted the way things worked in part of America and caused John Calhoun to feel for the south and proposed the doctrine of nullification. Which, allowed states to reject a federal law. This was good for the states because it allowed them to not feel so controlled.
  • Jackson's presidency was coming to an end and just before the reelection started, he claimed Biddle's bank to be unconstitutional. The Supreme court agreed and deemed it unconstitutional. Biddle was unhappy and made depositing harder. The citizens didn't like this and voted again for Jackson as they protested. The bank was shut down but put a target on the economies back. This was good because the states had left Europe because they didn't want to be run by a king anymore. Essentially, that's what the government was doing but that put an end to that.
