  • When I was 7, 8, and 9 years old, I would have spastic movements that I couldn't control.
  • It started out as stretching my neck back. Overtime these neck and face spasms became a routine, and I would count the spasms until I was satisfied
  • Reagan, you need to stop this bad habit.
  • Don't worry Mama, it's my thing!
  • I began to add vocal steps to my "routine" including clearing my throat and muffling under my breath.
  • She can't stop
  • tah-tah-tah
  • It's gotten worse
  • One day, the owner of my gymnastics gym and my coach called my mom to express their concerns.
  • We're all noticing things about Reagan. She has issues with motions that she can't control. 
  • Before she goes on the floor she has to go through her "moves"
  • Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!
  • This phonecall was the last straw for my mom. She began scrambling to get a qualified doctor to tell her what was wrong with her daughter and what she could do to help her.
  • I need to make an appointment for my daughter... He's backed up for months?
  • It's not that big of a deal.
  • After many doctor visits, we were able to get an appoointment with Dr. Frank Berenson, a highly sought after pedatric neuroligist. It took about three minutes for him to diagnose me.
  • My parents shielded me from most of the complications that come with tourettes. I wouldn't find out how serious my condition was until I was much older.
  • She has Tourette Syndrome. I know for two reasons: 1) I am a renowned pediatric neurologist and 2) my son has Tourette's.
  • Can we talk about this in private?
