  • Some Causes of the American Revolution
  • One Background reason for the american revolution is the French and Indian war as it caused the british to be in dept, so they imposed many taxes and restrictions in order to gain or save many all of them negatively affecting the colonists in some way.
  • The Tea Act was a law passed by the British that allowed only one company to sell tea to America and it put a tax on tea, but tea was the colonists most popular drink.
  • The colonists reacted to the Tea Act with the Boston Tea Party where they threw 300 crates of tea into the Boston harbor as a protest.
  • The Declaratory acts were laws out in place by Britain that side Britain could make any and all laws regarding the colonies and that gave lots of power to Britain.
  • The declaratory acts where designed to give Britain more power and local governments less, which in turn would allow them to oppose more taxes on the colonies giving them more money to pay off their dept but the colonies rejected the acts and gave more power to their governments and protested British control.
