Storyboard Text

  • King Arthur and his knights are gathered together and the Green Knight shows up without any greeting to challenge one of Arthur's men.
  • I am King Arthur,  and I am in charge of this castle.  What business do you have coming here?
  • I am the Green Knight and I have a challenge to propose to one of your men.
  • King Arthur stepped in to accept the challenge since none of this men came forward.  But Gawain finally takes his place and says he will do it, the Green Knight says you can take a swing with an ax across my neck, if I may do the same to you in a year and a day, and Gawain accepts it.
  • Take your swing, but be careful you only have one chance and then it is my turn.
  • I will do this in honor of my king and to go through with my knightly duties.
  • After Sir Gawain has taken his swing at the Green Knight, the Green Knight's head fell off, he walked over and picked it up and continued like nothing happened.  Several months pass, and then Sir Gawain starts on his journey to the Green Chapel.
  • Will I survive this??
  • How will I know when I am there?? I was given no directions.
  • On Gawain's journey he runs into a castle, where he is welcomed in by a lady and man, letting him stay there for awhile.  With just one rule, that Gawain must share everything, and he does so except for a girdle given to him by the lady.
  • Take this girdle to keep you safe.
  • Thank you kind lady, but I will not be sharing with your husband.  Please keep this between us.
  • Sir Gawain approaches leaves the lady and continues to the Green Chapel where he is supposed to meet the Green Knight to finish the challenge that he accepted a year before.
  • I am here to complete my part of the challenge.
  • Why have you flinched whenever I tried to strike you?  You must remain still, for that is the challenge.
  • The Green Knight took more than one swing, only nicking Gawain slightly and the  Green Knight reveals himself as the person at the castle, and sees the green girdle.
  • I have completed the task, and you have not lost your life in the end. Thank you being for a noble knight and going through with the challenge.
  • I can't believe that I actually survived and that you were the kind man that helped feed me on my journy.
