Legal Professional Conduct Assessment One

Storyboard Text

  • Tony, before you leave I have something else to discuss with you.
  • What is it now?
  • I have spent last night reviewing your files and have found a bill for $600, which only makes up about half an hour of work. What is this about?
  • That is a fair fee, Erin. I spend a lot of time on my files.
  • That is in no way a fair fee at all, Tony. Our across the board billing rate is $300. How could you possibly think this is not excessive charging?
  • I believe my time is worth more and this is not excessive charging.
  • Tony, this is in no way acceptable. It is not a fair rate and it isn't even outlined in our costs agreement. I'm sorry but I will need to mention this to the commission, along with the other problems we have found.
  • This is completely irrelevant to any other issues. I believe this is an acceptable billing rate and all client were charged fairly.
  • This is relevant and reflects your large personal expenditure with trust account monies.
  • That does not matter. This conversation is over. You will be hearing from the commission.
  • But, I said I would pay the money back.
