  • September 5, 1793, Maximilien Robespierre declares terror "the order of the day"- marking the beginning of the Reign of Terror.
  • People of France! I declare terror the order of the day. Today we start fighting back!
  • What's he talking about?
  • October 16, 793, Marie Antoinette is sent to the guillotine on charges ranging from treason to the Diamond Necklace Affair to sexually abusing her son.
  • Do it! Do it!
  • No! Please don't! I'm too pretty to die!!

  • April-May 1794, Military danger from external forces decreases.
