Representative: People elect government in order to have decisions made for them. Ex. United States Direct: People vote on all matters. This system works best in small groups or corporations. Ex. Ancient Athens
Group of people rule and have power to serve their own interest. Usually passed down from generation to generation. Ex. White Africans control 10% of South Africa
Ruled by one ruler. Power is taken by force and requires military support. Ex. Cuban dictator, Castro.
Ruler has total unchecked control of the nation. Citizens have only rights that the ruler chooses to give them and power is taken by force. Ex. Hitler
Based on religious law. Laws are traditionally based on the holy books. Ex. Vatican City.
