Storyboard Text

  • When Bruno's family moved to the country, they rode a on a train with every comfort. A smooth, comfortable ride even allowed Bruno to fall asleep.
  • When Bruno's family arrived at their new home, though it was unfamiliar, there was plenty of room to explore, and build a new life. They had servants to care for them, and a private tutor to educate them.
  • Bruno made up for his lack of friends by building a rope swing. He spent his time swinging, reading and eating on the swing. He had privileges of building his own toys that Shmuel could never have.
  • When Jews were sent to their new home, they were forced to ride on a train packed full of worn out travelers. It wasn't even guaranteed that you would make it to your destination alive.
  • Instead of a home to rest and eat in, Jews were made to work for the camp, given little rest, and even less food. In addition, they were exposed to the gases of their former companions.
  • In the little free time Shmuel had, he didn't have games, or a field. He had rocks to play with and an electric fence to keep him in. Regardless, Bruno dug under to join him, in the hopes of having new friends.
