In May 1804, Thomas Jefferson paid Lewis Hamilton and William Clark to discover the Pacific Ocean.
They sailed away to find a river leading to the Pacific Ocean from the Mid West.
As they were taking a rest from exploring rivers the lead to no where they decided to explore the land and found an Indian tribe nearby.
Lewis and Clark had to convince the tribe chief to let his daughter travel with them for translation and because she knows the lands they are walking on.
Sacagawea came along on their journey even though she was pregnant and across rivers to find the right river that leads to the Pacific Ocean and trade with tribes on the way.
In September 23, 1806 they finally found a river that leads to the ocean and then took 3 months to go home with the journal writing that Lewis wrote down.
