  • I don't like him, but I need to know what to do about it
  • Rising Action
  • This story is about a man who despises an old man with an odd eye, which has a white film over a blue cornea. The people in the story include the old man, the narrator, and the police
  • Climax
  • The Narrator tries to think of a way to get rid of the eye of which he does not like. He says in the story that it looks like a "Vulture's eye"
  • Falling Action
  • The narrator then decides to, for seven days, go to the old man's room at exactly midnight. He then places a lantern in and makes it positioned right on the "evil" eye
  • Resolution
  • The narrator kills the old man and repeats to cut up his body. He then hides the parts under the floorboards.
  • When the police show up, they search the whole house, but find nothing. The narrator sits down with them and the police start talking to each other.
  • The narrator, at last, confesses that he killed the old man. While the police were talking, however, he heard the heart beat of the old man growing louder and louder.
