Colonists were fed up with British taxes so they threw taxed tea into the Boston harbor which in turn sent more troop over to the colonies, and closed the Boston Harbor which was the only food source of Boston.
Colonists met in private to send King George III a letter asking for peace. The king did not read the letter and sent mercenaries to colonies to put down the rebellion, which started the war for independence.
