  • When people realize they're mistakes they are able to change and be happier with themselves. 
  • “In life i was your partner Jacob Marley.” (627). 
  • “There was a boy singing a Christmas carol at my door last night. I should like to have given him something. That’s all.” (635)
  • “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all year. I will live in the past, the present, and the future. The spirits of all three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach. Oh, tell me i may sponge away the writing on this stone!” (663).
  • Jacob Marley was the first Ghost to come to Scrooge. When he visited Scrooge he warned him about what was going to be his fate. This changed Scrooge because it was the beginning of him realizing his mistakes and his life changing experience. By realizing his mistakes he will be able to be happier and be kinder.
  • “Conduct me where you will. I went forth last night on compulsion, and i learned a lesson which is working now. Tonight if you have aught to teach me, let me profit by it.” (644)
  • . When he sees himself as a young boy all alone he regrets being cruel to the young boy caroling. He wishes he was kinder and gave the boy some money. He realizes his mistake and wishes to be able to re pay the young boy.
  •  Scrooge has now realized that when he will die no one will be sad, and no one will care. He has now realized that in his life he has pushed everyone away and made himself hated. He has learned his mistake was not being kind and hurting others. He has now said that he promises to keep the spirit of christmas in his heart. He will remember the lessons he has learned. He is now ready to fix his mistakes and become a better and happier man.
  • When Jacob Marley first told Scrooge about the Ghosts coming to visit him Scrooge's reaction was “I- I think I’d rather not.” but now Scrooge is ready to see his mistakes and learn from them so he can be a better and happier man.
