Deserted Farm By: Mark Vinz Annotated by Hannah Hankins
the literal meaning of the text is that an old barn stood rotting, decaying and abandoned. But it had given new life to young and blooming lilacs. At first the story was sad I can tell because the author used words like empty, exiled, and moans. Then the story shifts to happy it uses words like high reeling and open.
An old and seemingly useless object can give birth to something new and useful, this shows that no matter what there is always hope and you will make an impact on the world.
The story shifts from sad and melancholy to happy and hopeful when beautiful flowers sprout from the roof beams of the old and rotting barn
Even if something may appear to be useless it can still be used or a better use.
When I first read the story i thought it would be about a tragedy at a barn. When I read it i realized the story was about a rotting barn giving flowers new life
