"...with the first glimpse of the building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit.(13)" This begins the story with a feeling of a dark gloomy mood foreshadowing that this story is not one of a fairytale with happiness and smiles.
"A cadaverousness of complexion ; an eye large, liquid, and luminous beyond comparison ; lips somewhat thin and very pallid,... (17)" This shows just how bad Rodrick was suffering from what he was thinking and for what he knew was going on.
"The body having been encoffined, we two alone bore it to its rest.(23)" This is telling us what Rodrick is upset about and why he needed the narrators help.
"Madman! I tell you that she now stands without the door!(30)" This represents the horrific sight of his alive twin sister and all his visions of her being alive were true.
"...fissure rapidly widened there came a fierce breath of the whirlwind the entire orb of the satellite burst at once upon my sight...(30)." This shows that the events of the twin sister still being alive and other unspoken events really affected the way the house ended up being. This also shows that the title of this story has a double meaning showing the house physically falling as well as the Usher family.
