  • Preparation To Prepare for the knowledge test, study the textbook online,on the app or pick up a copy at a driver licensing office.
  • Hmm... to get my L licence, the first thing I need to do is study the Learn to Drive Smart textbook.
  • Practice Test Take the online practice test through the Learn To Drive Smart App, you can also take a road signs practice test to get familiar with the road signs you will encounter while driving.
  • Now that I have studied the Learn To Drive Smart textbook, I can take the practice test.
  • Taking The Test To take the knowledge test, go to an ICBC driver licensing office. Bring an accepted ID, a signed and witnessed consent form and fees for the test and your learners license.
  • We are ready for the test!
  • Driving As A Learner You have be a learner for 12 months before you can take your road test and move up the next level. A learners licence stays valid for two years before you can renew your license. While driving, display your L sign on the back of your car. A supervisor age 25+ with a valid Class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 licence, must sit beside you in the front passenger seat. There is a limit of 1 other passenger in the vehicle.
  • Preparation For N Test Before taking your N test, make sure to get lots of on-road driving practice with a qualified supervisor. To get good practice, consider taking a driver training course. Practice driving at different times of day, in different weather and road conditions, and in unfamiliar neighbourhoods
  • Read Tuning up For Drivers Take the road ready quiz Read Learn to Drive Smart Take the road signs practice test
  • Driving Restrictions: No electronic devices Display N sign No alcohol or drugs Limit one passenger
  • Passing Your Road Test After passing the road test by driving on a route meant to test your driving skills (this will be supervised by a driver examiner), you will receive a new reflective N sign to replace your L. This sign will be placed at the back of your car while driving. Having an N signifies that you are a novice driver and are allowed to drive on your own.
