Storyboard Text

  • Today we are going to be talking about Ethics and Values
  • How can there be moral principles that apply to everyone if all people's views are different?
  • Where do Moral principles come from?
  • Mine come from my parents.
  • My morals come from my religion.
  • Well my parents said that religion is dumb
  • Well then you're a bad person!
  • Uh - oh!
  • Who cares?
  • yikes - that escalated quickly
  • Then why do we have to listen to what the school tells us is "the right thing to do"?
  • Every family has different values, and each person is entitled to their own beliefs on the matter.
  • yeah, then can't we do whatever we want?
  • Morals and values come from different places and differ for everyone.
  • The laws of society are based off reasons for keeping us safe and orderly, the same goes for schools. So that students can learn and be safe.
  • Why should the school be able to tell us what is right and wrong? Who made them the morality police?
  • I guess morals are what keep us from being mean to each other and fighting?
  • I'm sorry I said your religion was dumb, we can all have respect for ideas about right and wrong based on what we believe.
  • It's okay. sometimes it can be a sensitive topic for some people.
  • And the point of discussing is to learn from each other and grow
