Elliot's learning was more so on the side of his loyalty towards Jackie and their kids was supposed to be that key sin of his that destroyed his life. Darling on the other hand should have learned that she can't always get what she wants. This is one of those stories where there is no happily ever after, but something is still being learned on both sides of the tightrope.
