  • Annabel Lee
  • Speaker: He expresses his love for his wife. "The beautiful Annabel Lee" ( Line 16)
  • Setting: The ski is filled with big grey clouds. Annabel's tomb was by the sea (Lines 4)
  • Symbol: The sea symbolizes being lonely and cold. " I was a child and she was a child, in a kingdom by the sea, but we loved with a love that was more than love, I am my Annabel Lee "(Lines 7-10)
  • Imagery: "To shut her up in a sepulchre- in this kingdom by the sea" (lines 19-20)
  • Refrain: "Of the beautiful Annabel Lee" ( Lines 13). The speaker rhymes death with Annabel Lee. It is the harshest form of death mentioned throughout the poem. She is refrain throughout the entire poem.
  • Theme: The theme of the poem was love. The narrator and Annabel fell in love when they were young in a kingdom by the sea. When he finds himself missing her he sleeps in her tomb.
