"He was born when I was six, and from the outset, a disappointment." Brother didn't accept Doodle from the start because of his disability.

"so I began to make plans to kill him... with a pillow." Brother planned to kill Doodle because he was different and wasn't what he wanted him to be and the narrator was embarrassed. This relates to the theme because brother he wanted to mold Doodle to be "normal"
I am the best I can not fail I will make doodle just like me mhm yeah...
"crawling backwards made him look like a Doodlebug, so I began to call him Doodle." The brother was molding Doodle to a different identity because he acted different than what brother expected him to act like.
"I put him on his feet at least a 100 times, I too became discouraged because it didn't seem like he was trying." That relates to the theme because he scared Doodle into trying to walk even though he wasn't able to, brother did it because he wanted Doodle to be what he thought was normal.
"I would teach him to run, to swim, to climb trees, and to fight. He, too, would begin to believe in my own infallibility." Brother got carried away with teaching Doodle new things and he believed he couldn't fail and he made Doodle think that too.
"the faster I walked, the faster he walked, so I began to run." The narrator was trying to make Doodle do something he was not able to do and in the end it was too much for him to handle and he ended up dying.
