Storyboard Text

  • Meeting my host family was a very nerve wracking experience. Luckily for me they both spoke fairly fluent english.
  • We are the Ueno family.
  • It's nice to finally meet you.
  • Hi my name is Rider.
  • I wonder what school is going to be like?
  • After meeting my host family I had to go to school. I was extremely nervous and excited to go to school. The one thing that scared me the most was speaking japanese. My japanese at the time was terrible.
  • Hello everyone. My name is Rider and I am from America.
  • The first thing I had to do at school was give a speech in front of all the students and teachers. I almost died because of how nervous I was.
  • Ohhhh! American!
  • こんにちは! 私はしゅんです。 よろしくお願いします。
  • That day I was talked to by a lot of japanese students, but I couldn't speak the language so I didn't understand. Making friends was really hard.
  • I'm sorry, I don't understand
  • I was not having a good time on exchange so far.
  • Why?
  • How was your first day at school?
  • Just hang in there and It'll get better
  • I couldn't communicate with anyone
  • It sucked
  • The beginning of my exchange was one of the hardest things I've experienced. Learning a new language and culture was a huge challenge. However, as time went on the year got better and I enjoyed it a lot more. Staying positive and not getting homesick were the hardest things I had to deal with.
  • I Just wanna go home...
